How & why did we start?

The Africa Hub, conceived in 2020 by Anita Powell, Founder & MD of Small World Marketing, and former Chair of ATTA®️, emerged as a positive response during a global crisis. Born out of a desire to bring beloved destinations to agents' desks, the idea gained instant industry support. In the face of a world shutting down, The Africa Hub provided a vital online connection and a platform to share our love for travel.

Partnerships have been crucial to our success, with a continent-wide network of experts contributing specialist knowledge to our online training resource. As we embark on a new phase with The Travel Hub Collection, an Advisory Panel of industry specialists guides our development. Exciting plans for global expansion include upcoming launches of The Middle East Hub & The South America Hub. We can't wait to welcome you to this journey.

Between us we have worked in all elements of the travel industry which gives us a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by all stakeholders.

Anita Powell

Managing Director

Anita, a seasoned professional in destination and hotel marketing, offers over 20 years of expertise. Her diverse experience includes roles in tourism boards, hotel marketing, PR, and leadership as Chair of the Africa Travel & Tourism Association.

Sammy Kelly

Head of Product Development

Born in Zambia, and with 16+ years in the African travel trade, Sammy is adept at lodge management, establishing Africa departments, and onboarding at Jacada. She understands agents' requirements for a streamlined sales process and has vast experience in all sides of the industry.

Laura Dale

Head of Partnerships

After overseeing Audley Travel's Indian Ocean & Africa product, Laura comprehends the difficulties confronted by product and sales teams dealing with an abundance of choices and information sources.

Michelle Hollis

Partnerships Executive

With 15 years overseeing sales and marketing for lodges and hotels in Africa, our South African colleague Michelle possesses the expertise to effectively promote hotels and ensure their visibility - and is a dab hand at all the systems needed to be as efficient as we can be.
